life is like taking a lift up. you never know what lies waiting behind that door.
everytime the lift door opens, people just come in and go out, pressing the button with floor they want. according to the 3-second stare, someone wouldnt stare more than 3s at the person if they dont know each other. sometimes, they dont even bother to take a look or say a thankyou. this are what we know as strangers. they just merely and happen to exist in the same dimension as you at the moment in time.
finally, someone broke the awkward silence and said thankyou and smiled. you both had eye contact and started a casual talk with each other. when either one has to get off, there seems to be endless topics to talk about, so both stayed in the lift.
you made a new friend!
at the next stop, more came in and decided to start a conversation as well. now, everyone knows each other and are friends. but as more and more people start to swarm into the lift, you realised that you are getting suffocated in that small enclosed area. now, a simple talk seems so difficult. you realised that you are getting less significant in there.
you decided to leave the crowd and out of the lift to grab some fresh air. the lift door shut on you and went up, leaving you on the outside staring at the passing lifts, which do not even have that space to let you in. when will the next lift come and open its door for you? you dont know.
till that happens, you are all alone again.
i guess thats how life functions.
